Social Studies:

This week we will start our exploration of maps. The focus will be on learning our own address,

landforms, bodies of water, the 7 continents (Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Antarctica, Australia and Africa) and urban, suburban and rural areas.

Pop Tabs for Charity:
Our class service is to collect pop tabs off of soda or soup cans. The funds generated from recycling these aluminum gems help cover expenses at local Ronald McDonald Houses. These facilities provide a place for families to stay when they have a child at a local hospital. Please save your pop tabs and encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to collect them, too.

Looking Ahead to the Week of September 24 (STEM Week)

Homework:
The homework packet issued Sept. 20 is due on Sept. 27.  Please change the due date on the top of this
form to reflect the change, due to the hurricane.  I included the wordlines we practice during class as part
of our language-building routine, so your child is able to practice reading the words aloud at home.  Also, I
attached a sheet with suggestions for creative ways to practice spelling at home. Spelling practice is a
requirement on each homework sheet, but the method your child uses to practice is up to him or her.
