Reading Counts:
Starting 10/8/18, each student is required to read and pass (with a 70% or higher) a Reading Counts test on a minimum of 1 book (picture book or chapter book) every week.  The test must be on a book on their color level, one level above, or one level below.  The students know which color levels these are because they have a library card with these colors.  The students may read their book(s) at home, but they must take the test(s) in class so I can sign their Reading Counts log.  Students who do not have a passed test on their level by Friday of each week will stay in during extra recess to take their required test.

Homework Reminders:
Please make sure your child's reading log is signed each day, as well as the signature box stating your child practiced his or her spelling for the week.  Also, the reading log needs to be completed 4 different days during the week, not just for 4 reading sessions.  If your child is able to read for more than 15 minutes at a time or read more than 1 book during the 15 minutes that is wonderful, but it still 1 reading log entry.  Don't forget, practice problems/assignments for the week are either stapled to the homework or copied on the back.
